Just for those who wants to setting shape their spool.

A. Setting upon delivery

B. To set to wind more to the front Reduce the number of washers on the spool shaft

C. To set to wind more to the back Increase the number of washers on the spool shaft



Please don't confuse with the picture below, as it the solution when you have an unbalanced line.

2019: New Carpenter Bluefish 120

In January 2019, Carpenter has released its new Bluefish 120 (BF120) production.  The previous release was in October 2016 with 2 color scheme i.e. _Diablo Dark Blueback and Flyingfish Blackback.
This time Carpenter has released 7 color scheme.

Total length: 210 mm
Weight Approximately: 116 g
Floating
Conforming hook weight (per unit) approximately 11g e.g. Decoy Saltwater 6/0.
Suitable Split Ring: Carpenter SR 250 lb or Owner #10

From Carpenter BF120 website, it is stated that BF120-210 main target fish are Hiramasa, GT and Tuna.
BF120-210 is easy to operate lure for rough sea.  BF120-210 has two main actions i.e. just reel in walk-the-dog and γ jerk where jerk speed, length, pitch, stop time, etc. can be adapted to the nature and circumstances of the target fish.

Suitable GT rods include TBL80/30, TBL80/35, TBL83/32, EP85/36, EP88/35, EP82/38, CV79/35 and EP86/40.  FOr F3 711/40 and TBL80/40, BF120 can be played if the angler excellent on the slack timing.

Stella Spool Capacity using Power Pro lines

For big game popping, currently, i  used SOM 16000 2008 spool for all my 2008 Stella SW10000XG with back up of 2013 SOM 16000 V1s. As for 2013 Stella 14000, i used original spool with SOM 16000 Ver2 as back up.

Almost all spools are filled with Power Pro Spectra Red color.  Dunno why i used red, maybe red is easier to get than other colors.

Below is a guideline for me on how much i filled the spool using Power Pro 65lb, 80lb and 100lb.  Too old for me to fill with 150lb or 130lb class line.

Power Pro 65lb - 0.41mm diameter
Original spool 2008 Stella SW10000XG = 227m

Power Pro 80lb - 0.43mm diameter
Original spool 2008 Stella SW10000XG = 170m
SOM 16000 (08), 2013 V1 and 2018 V2 = 227m
Original spool 2013 Stella SW14000XG = 227m
Original spool 2008 Stella SW18000HG and 2013 Stella SW18000HG = 335m

Power Pro 100lb - 0.46mm diameter
Original spool 2008 Stella SW18000HG and 2013 Stella SW18000HG = 280m
Original spool 2013 Stella SW14000XG = 195m
SOM 16000 (08), 2013 V1 and 2018 V2 = 195m

Power Pro 150lb
Original spool 2008 Stella SW18000HG and 2013 Stella SW18000HG = 230m

Please note all measurement are by my hand wound and using Daiichi-Seiko Kousoku Recycler and digital line counter. I tried to wind as tight as i can but i think if somebody else do it by other methods of filling, they maybe get more meter.

Note also by using thinner line diameter than Power Pro, eg.  SUNLINE Castaway Monster Battle or VARIVAS Avani GT,  one can spool in more meters.

One will ask 185m is enough? Well, like myself, will cast between 60-80m with 100m left in the spool. With 100lb line, the suitable initial drag of 1/3 is 33.33lb i.e ~15kg drag. If I cannot stop the fish pulling 15kg drag for 50m, I have to face that the fish is too big to be mine.
